Master Plan
You might say the hospital was in a bit of a tight spot with their existing facilities. That's because the hospital and original medical office building were adjacent to a huge bluff and occupied virtually all of the buildable space. And, of course, the master plan had to allow for "business as usual" operations throughout the project, requiring a well-orchestrated plan. The resulting design solution includes a multi-phase masterplan that carefully lays out the steps required to efficiently relocate the existing MOB offsite, and then proceed to meticulously shuffle everything around over a period of as much as a decade or more - all supporting the goal of continuing to provide state-of-the art care on the existing building site.
As architects who design projects in nearly every state in the country (47 to be exact) we understand the importance of designing for the unique characteristics of a region, like earthquakes in CA!
