David Johnson, JJCA principal, recently made it a little easier for more than 120 participants – including hospital trustees and leadership teams – to be green with his webinar entitled “You can’t afford NOT to have a green strategy”.
David has shared similar presentations across the country with community hospital leadership but this was his first experience with a virtual presentation. He says it’s a little harder to gauge enthusiasm when participants can’t throw beer bottles at the instructor. But feedback has been positive (and we think if they were serving beer, they’d probably make a toast to David instead.)
In the webinar, David begins by sharing the fact that the healthcare industry is the second largest user of energy, with hospitals the leading users. This fact alone backs up David’s key point that hospitals really can’t afford NOT to have a green strategy. He goes on to explain that one size does not fit all but that “green” is a strategy that hospital boards must spend time with like any other strategic issue. David provides numerous common sense ideas that hospitals can incorporate in their plans without having to go as far as LEED certification.
