Putting the pink gloves on for cancer awareness.

We couldn’t be more proud to showcase three of the great hospitals we’ve worked with who put on their pink gloves – and their boogie shoes – to create videos for cancer awareness as a part of the Pink Gloves Dance.  Winning hospitals, selected by popular vote, get donations made in their names to their favorite cancer charities. It looks like voting ended October 21 but even if you can’t vote, you won’t want to miss viewing these great videos:

Baptist Beaumont in Beaumont, Texas

Effingham in Springfield, Georgia  (Go Norma Jean!)

Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, Mississippi

Jim King Recognized With Coin of Excellence

Jim King (pictured left) is presented with a Coin of Excellence from Special Forces retiree Robert Hall.

Jim King is Director of Engineering with Jennie Stuart Medical Center, located nearby Fort Campbell.  We’ve worked with Jim and the folks at Jennie Stuart for years and want to congratulate Jim on receiving a coveted Coin of Excellence, presented to Jim in the photo above by Robert Hall on behalf of General David Petraeus (now serving as Director of the CIA).  Robert, who served as intelligence NCO for General Petraeus some years ago, presented the award after the General became familiar with some of the work that Jim and co-worker Fred Foltz are doing to assist in the Special Forces mission.   The Coin of Excellence is a very special award honoring service members for contributions and/or performance that exceed the expectations of the daily performance of duty.

David Johnson Becomes EDAC Accredited

In his more than 25 years of experience of  working on hundreds of hospitals to create patient-centered spaces, David Johnson has been an avid follower of the principles of evidence-based design.  So it is no surprise to all of us who work with David here at JJCA that he has demonstrated his knowledge by becoming EDAC-accredited.

EDAC stands for Evidence-based Design Accreditation and Certification and is a program that has established new standards for individuals who are using an evidence-based design process for healthcare building projects. An EDAC
accredited individual can help make design decisions and recommendations based upon the best available research information. Using this process has been proven to produce measurable improvements in healthcare facility
clinical outcomes, economic performance, productivity, customer satisfaction and cultural measures, among others.

Congratulations David!

300

Ed is a pretty good bowler.

We’ve always known Ed George is a pretty good bowler. In 2003 and 2004 he led us to a trophy winning performance the Love Helps Annual Charity Bowling Tournament.  Last year,  Ed also threw a three game 802 series. Not bad, but not perfect.

Last night he achieved perfection by rolling his first sanctioned perfect game in his “Wednesday Trios” league at Hermitage Lanes in Hermitage, Tennessee.

As a result of his perfection, Ed will be enshrined at the International Bowling Hall of Fame in Arlington, Texas. He will also receive a ring for his efforts.

Julie Covington awarded Sheila Thrailkill-Breuss Award by March of Dimes

Julia accepts her award

On Tuesday, September 22, JJCA principal Julie Covington was awarded the Sheila Thrailkill-Breuss Award by the Tennessee Chapter of the March of Dimes.  The award was presented at the March of Dimes’ Signature Chef Auction, which Julie has served as event coordinator for the last two years.

The event brings together some of  Middle Tennessee’s best restaurateurs and local food celebrities to prepare sample dishes for tasting.  At the same time a silent and live auction raises money for the March of Dimes’ mission, which is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.

We are proud of Julie and all she does in our community.
