Situated beside the Cumberland River, downtown Nashville is a thriving business and residential center. Guidance for the city's growth comes in part from the "Plan of Nashville", a community-supported vision outlined in 2003 that seeks, in part, to make the downtown district the heart of our region. (In other words, make it a really happening place to live and work.) Growth over the last several years in urban residential options has brought with it an increase in great restaurants, retail and entertainment venues.
Look up Nashville on Wikipedia and you'll find this: "most notably known as a center of the music industry, earning it the nickname 'Music City.'" Whether your tastes run to country, rock, bluegrass, or pop, you'll find all of that and more here. Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift, John Hiatt, Jack White, Kings of Leon - all have close Nashville connections. You never know who might drop by to play a set at one of Nashville's many intimate but renowned night spots like the Bluebird Cafe, Exit/In, or Station Inn, or larger venues like the Grand Ole Opry House or Ryman Auditorium. Classical music buffs can also get their fill at one of the finest symphony halls in the country, the Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
Sports lovers have year-round professional, collegiate and amateur sports options. You'll find the Tennessee Titans, the Nashville Predators, and the Nashville Sounds, plus the Music City Bowl, Country Music Marathon, the excitement of SEC match-ups with Vanderbilt, and more.
There are greenways, parks, lakes, and, gardens, and most every form of indoor and outdoor entertainment imaginable. And have we mentioned great restaurants? Take a tour of some of our recommendations on the map.
