A unique combination of experience, a culture of employee development, a disciplined process, and a mindset of client stewardship, results in buildings—and relationships—that endure.
Our major emphasis for more than 18 years has been community hospitals and a variety of educational facilities. Founding partners Ed Johnson and Bruce Crabtree each practiced architecture for more than 40 years and built a tradition of excellence. Current principals David Brown and David Johnson, with more than 45 years of experience among them, now work to inspire innovation in a new generation of talent and carry on this tradition of excellence.
We're a close-knit group working in a collaborative environment. Interns are immediately exposed to major projects, allowing us to quickly identify and develop their unique talents to better our overall effort. We invest three times the national average on technology and employee education.
We believe great design is defined by achieving the client's needs. But a great design is just the start. Outstanding project management skills bring a building to life.
A "checkset" process that has been refined over many years guides our rigorous approach to managing a project. Extensive work in the highly-regulated health care market has given us considerable experience in managing projects using the "fast track" approach as well as the team/partnering process. We carry this experience into all of our projects. Our percentage of change orders is less than a third of the AIA average. The result is projects that are on-time, on-budget, and on-target.
We don't use our wealth of experience to presume a ready-made solution. Instead, we start with solutions provided to clients who have faced similar issues and refine those to meet the unique objectives of each new project. We meet those objectives with a carefully selected team of individuals—always with significant involvement of the firm's principals—and maintain that team from design to delivery.
